Staff Picks: Where to Find the Best Coffee

Near Blue Lagoon Beach Resort

17 September 2025

One of the questions we’re asked almost every day is…

“Where’s the best coffee around here?”

The good news? You’re spoiled for choice. Whether you’re after a beachfront brew, a cosy local café or somewhere to grab breakfast before a day of exploring, our team has plenty of favourites.

So, we asked our staff one simple question:

“If you were heading out for a coffee, where would you go?”

Here’s what they had to say…

Renai’s Pick – Bateau Beach Café

Order: Iced Skim Latte

If you don’t want to venture far, Renai says you can’t go past Bateau Beach Café, conveniently located just across the road at the top of our driveway. It’s the perfect first stop before heading down to the beach or exploring the coastline.

Amy’s Pick – Café Mocha

Order: Decaf Skinny Mocha

Only three blocks from Blue Lagoon, Café Mocha is around a two-minute drive or an easy ten-minute walk, and where Amy gets her morning fix almost every single day! It’s a local favourite for consistently great coffee and a relaxed atmosphere.

While you’re there, spend some time exploring the Bateau Bay Village shopping strip. You’ll find some fantastic local businesses including Blue Jaam Gourmet Pantry for beautiful gourmet gifts and local produce, and Blackbird Boutique for stylish fashion and homewares – both stores also firm favourites with our Amy!

Emily’s Pick – Blue Lagoon Kiosk!

Order: Strong Small Latte

Emily’s recommendation is our very own Blue Lagoon Kiosk! [anchor point to KIOSK on our website here please]

Now… she might be a little biased considering her mum works there…   😉

We’re proud to serve Maxima Coffee, locally roasted at Ettalong Beach by passionate husband-and-wife team Luke and Hayley. They’ve been crafting exceptional coffee on the Central Coast for over a decade, building a loyal following through their commitment to quality, consistency and genuinely great coffee. Supporting local businesses like Maxima is something we’re proud to do.

Open on weekends and throughout school holidays, the kiosk is the perfect place to grab your morning coffee without even leaving the resort. Pick up a fresh brew, take a stroll down to the beach, or simply relax while the kids enjoy the playground or pool – it’s holiday convenience at its best!

Michelle’s Pick – Munchas Café, Shelly Beach

Order: Skim Cappuccino

Michelle heads to Munchas Café, tucked underneath the Shelly Beach Surf Club.

You can enjoy a scenic ten-minute walk along the beach to get there, or it’s just a quick two or three-minute drive. The coffee tastes even better with the beautiful ocean views over Shelly Beach.

Ines’ Pick – Black Finn, Killarney Vale

Order: Oat Milk Dirty Chai

Ines loves Black Finn, just a five-minute drive from the resort. It’s one of the newest cafés on the Central Coast and has quickly built a loyal following. This is their second location, with the original café in Toukley becoming something of a local institution. They’ve even got their own merchandise, which tells you everything you need to know about their fan base!

Kathy’s Pick – The Village Kiosk, Toowoon Bay

Order: Strong Cappuccino

If you’ve got a little extra time, Kathy recommends The Village Kiosk overlooking beautiful Toowoon Bay Beach.

It’s incredibly popular with locals and visitors alike, so don’t be surprised if there’s a queue on weekends. If you can sneak in during the week, though, you’ll be rewarded with fantastic coffee, delicious brunch and one of the best beach views on the Central Coast.

Julie’s Pick – Flour & Co, Toowoon Bay

Order: Regular Cappuccino

A five-minute drive is all it takes to reach Flour & Co.

Julie reckons it’s well worth the trip. The coffee is consistently excellent, but it’s the bakery cabinet that really steals the show. From fresh pastries to sourdough and sweet treats, it’s easy to see why this local favourite has developed such a cult following.

Our Final Tip

No matter which café you choose, you’re never more than a few minutes away from a fantastic coffee when you’re staying at Blue Lagoon Beach Resort.

Who knows… you might even discover your new favourite.
